Contract software and CAD/CAM services for manufacturers and product developers.
MicroTec LLC is an independent engineering practice with experience in mold making, CNC programming, and software development. Clients work directly with the engineer responsible for the deliverable.
Who MicroTec Serves
Engagements typically fall into one of three categories.
Manufacturers & Job Shops
Shop-floor data collection, work-order and job tracking, reporting dashboards, and custom software that supplements an existing ERP. Spreadsheet and VBA-based systems can be rebuilt as maintainable applications.
Software Teams & Agencies
Backend and cloud development for teams requiring additional capacity or specialized expertise: data pipelines, asynchronous processing, APIs, infrastructure-as-code, and documentation.
Designers, Inventors & OEMs
3D models developed from sketches, drawings, and legacy 2D prints, including mold core/cavity geometry, EDM electrodes, sheet metal parts, and fixtures, modeled with manufacturing in mind.
Contract Services
Cloud & Backend Development
C#/.NET services on Azure: Functions and Durable Functions, Service Bus, Cosmos DB, SQL Server, Redis, REST APIs. Deployed with Bicep and Azure DevOps pipelines.
Software services →Shop-Floor & Industrial Software
Kepware/OPC and PLC data collection, IIoT sensor integration, and operator-facing applications for measurement and production.
Industrial software →Legacy Modernization & Integration
Reverse-engineering undocumented systems (Java, VB.NET/ASP.NET, PHP, VBA), documenting them, and connecting them to SAP, Salesforce, and modern services.
Modernization →Contract CAD Design
Solid and surface modeling to GD&T-toleranced drawings: mold core/cavity, parting lines, slides and lifters, graphite EDM electrodes, sheet metal parts, custom tooling and fixtures.
CAD services →CNC & CAM Programming
Toolpaths and G-code for 2–4 axis mills, lathes, and wire EDM using SurfCam, Esprit, and SolidWorks. Setup documentation and custom post-processors included.
CAM services →Process Automation
VBA macros, scripts, and small custom tools that remove repetitive work from CAD/CAM, office, and shop workflows. Documented and under version control.
See examples →Software and Manufacturing Engineering
Common Terminology
Reading an engineering drawing, understanding the process, and developing the software are handled by one engineer, so requirements pass from the shop floor to the code without translation.
Manufacturability
Models are developed with the machining process in mind, including tool reach, draft, wall thickness, and workholding.
Documentation
Every deliverable, whether code, a model, or a post-processor, is provided with documentation and version history so that it can be maintained independently.
